Will the "BRICs Decade" continue? – Prospects for trade and growth

IAMO Forum 2011

23-24 June 2011, Halle (Saale), Germany

The Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Central and Eastern Europe (IAMO), the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW), and the GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies are jointly organizing the IAMO Forum 2011. The conference will focus on growth and trade in the world’s leading emerging economies Brazil, Russia, India, and China (BRICs) and the repercussions on the world economy.

The ongoing globalization process makes questions of trade and growth vitally important for all actors in the world economy. The IAMO Forum 2011 aims to take stock of current research on the consequences of the rise of new economic powers for the world economy. Besides macroeconomic questions the Forum 2011 will focus on agriculture, global food security, and the stabilisation of highly erratic international commodity markets.

  2. The BRICs and the current world economic crisis
  3. International trade and the BRICs
  4. Economic change and the architecture of political power: the case of  the BRICs
  5. Agricultural potential of the BRICs
  6. Global food security and the BRICs
  7. Agricultural market policy of the BRICs
  8. Global agricultural market volatility and the BRICs

The IAMO Forum 2011 will take place in Halle, Germany, in the IAMO conference facilities. The conference language is English.
